Meet your dentists

Dr. Jui-Yu Belle Chen

Dr. Belle was born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan, and came to the United States to pursue her undergraduate and dental education. She earned her Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, where she graduated with honors in both Community Oral Health and Medically Complex Dentistry. Recognized for her academic excellence, she also received the American Academy of Oral Medicine Certificate of Merit.

Following dental school, Dr. Belle completed advanced hospital-based training at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. There, she expanded her expertise in restorative, cosmetic, endodontic, and surgical emergency dentistry—skills that now enable her to offer comprehensive, high-level care with confidence and precision.

But beyond her clinical credentials, what truly sets Dr. Belle apart is her perspective. As both a dentist and a mother, she understands how important it is to create a dental experience that’s centered on empathy, trust, and ease. Her gentle touch, artistic eye, and calming presence are what make patients—of all ages—feel safe, understood, and genuinely cared for.

After relocating to Hawaii, Dr. Belle noticed a lack of practices that reflected her values and vision for care. So, she decided to create one herself. Today, Hawaii Kai Dental Studio is a place where patients can experience dentistry done differently. Elevated by design, backed by advanced technology, and grounded in thoughtful, intentional service.

Dr. HansHwa Pen Hsu

Born in Vienna, Austria and raised in the Philadelphia area, Dr. Hans brings a unique blend of global perspective and academic excellence to pediatric dentistry. He earned his undergraduate degree from Swarthmore College, where he double-majored in Biology and Chinese Language. He went on to receive his dental degree from New York University College of Dentistry, where he was awarded the AADR Student Research Fellowship, the ADEA Academic Dental Careers Scholarship, and was inducted into the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society.

Dr. Hans completed his specialty training in Pediatric Dentistry at Columbia University–New York Presbyterian Hospital, serving as Chief Resident during his final year. Before relocating to Hawaii, he practiced in New Jersey and taught as clinical faculty at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine.

With a calm and compassionate approach, Dr. Hans is committed to delivering the highest quality care and creating positive, stress-free dental visits for every child. His goal is to help kids build a lifelong love of healthy smiles.
